I saw a mention in IRC the other day about setting up an init.d script for Unicorn in the ce-installer. The CE installer currently uses Monit to control unicorn, since Upstart is unable to track a process which keeps changing its PID. This means that it could take a while for the web app to be reloaded, which can be confusing
I've given it a shot: https://gist.github.com/zmalltalker/553997[2] It supports the normal start/stop/restart/status commands, and it also supports reload (sending a USR2 to the unicorn master process). I'm sure someone else is better at this than me, so any feedback would be more than welcome.
