Everything is working fine now. I actually was able to solve my other issue: 
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/gitorious/C5NlRYGdL8w/sfSji6rIu2AJ 

I think everything was fine with the installation. I was hoping the 
installation was causing that issue. However, I believe it wasn't an issue with 
my original problem.
