option to change the default sort order?

Is there a undocumented config option to change the sort order? such  
as using "defaults"?

I can change it from the command line, but it garbles gitx's  
perception of the branch name.

> gitx --all --date-order

I'd like to make this a bit more permanent, as otherwise gitx (and  
even gitk) shows branches wildly. I'm not a list member, so please  
copy me on responses.
