CORRECTION

The caption to the photograph on page 2 of Partners March 2001, Annual
Meeting Special Supplement, misidentified GKP's ingoing and outgoing
ExComm chairmen: Incoming ExComm Chairman Walter Fust of SDC is pictured
on the left. Our apologies.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ? ELECT AND INCOMING SECRETARIAT GET TO WORK!

Gerolf Weigel, representing incoming Chair Walter Fust, SDC has been on a
fact-finding tour to the current Secretariat in Washington, in preparation
for discussions with NITC-Malaysia (the incoming Secretariat) in late May.
He will go onto meet with the incoming Secretariat in Malaysia in late
May. These meetings will provide input for a draft report on lessons
learned from the present set-up and proposed roles and functions for the
Partnership's future governing framework. As always, input from GKP
members will be solicited. Watch for future announcements in Partners and
listserve messages. All of this is leading up to the official inauguration
meeting of the Executive Committee to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,
in mid-September.

For information contact Gerolf Weigel ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or
Rinalia Abdul Rahim ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).

PORTAL UPDATE

Several changes and improvements have been made to GKP's Portal as a
result of member input since the portal's initial launch at the GKP Annual
Meeting last month. They include:

All annual meetings participants have been added as members of the
portal and should have received an automated e-mail with their designated
username
and password.

A 'help manual' on how to navigate through the portal has been added on
the top page.

A new topic, "Activity Program 2001-2003," has been added. It will
highlight GKP's future program, under five headings (editors are being
sought to coordinate input under each heading).

Two discussions have begun; one from Bangladesh Friendship Education
Society on "Grassroots Initiatives and the Knowledge Base" and one from
UNIDO on "Small and Medium Enterprises and ICTs".

A photo gallery has been added. It includes the GKP logo and photographs,
which are available for members to use for promotional and other purposes.

To ensure the portal is meeting member needs a 'focus group' will be
established to provide suggestions and comment. All GKP members will be
invited to join the focus group (information will be circulated shortly).

For information on other changes or to volunteer as a coordinator, contact
Nalan Yuksel at <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

GKP PRODUCES DRAFT SUBMISSION TO DOT FORCE

Input from GKP members and participants in the GKD list provides the basis
for a draft of GKP's submission to the DOT Force. It stresses, among other
things, that: when committing to action, the G-8 should move in favor of
greater inclusion, i.e. priority should be given to projects that expand
the access to infrastructure, knowledge, and political power to
disadvantaged people greater use of local resources is of paramount
importance a more decentralized process of resource allocation among
donors is recommended. To view the draft visit
