Dear GKD Colleagues,
I reject profoundly the notion that I, as a member of the development
community, am some sort of World Bank zombie, toiling consciously or
unconsciously under its hegemony.
The 'development community' -- to the extent that this is not simply a
label to be adopted by whoever so wishes to describe themselves -- is not
subject to the predominant influence of any one institution or ideology.
There may be central commitments and concerns around the relationship
between the rich and the poor, but surely the whole point is the spectrum of
views, and the debate, to which this gives rise.
I find the attempt at litigation wholly unsavoury, a form of invasive
intellectual leprosy. I call on all GKD subscribers to reject it out of
hand.
