Friends, The Global Knowledge Partnership did a consultation for the G-8's DOT Force over the past year. A similar consultation from civil society could soon be provided to the World Summit on the Information Society WSIS. At a meeting of the Developing-Country Special Interest Group DevSIG of the Geneva Switzerland Chapter of the Internet Society such an idea was circulated last night. The WSIS is slated to start in Geneva in 2003 at the International Telecommunication Union ITU. The ITU has proposed a list of themes for the WSIS in 2003/2005. These would be the logical basis for such a consultation. We'd like to hear what you think of the themes. Join in our discussion and tell us: Will the WSIS bring action on themes that improve on the Action Plan of the G-8's DOT Force? We could start by comparing the plans for 2003 with those from 2001. They can be seen at: <http://www.hsw.fhso.ch/ruddy/themestable.htm> Regards, Thomas Ruddy ------------ ***GKD is an initiative of the Global Knowledge Partnership*** To post a message, send it to: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To subscribe or unsubscribe, send a message to: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.
