Dear Frederick, It would be difficult to convince you otherwise! The main point though, is there is time for you to act on your convictions. The article in question is detailing the outcome of the WSIS Regional Preparatory meeting for Asia. I'm sure you know that the main PrepCom will take place from 17-28 February, a third PrepCom is indicated for September and the first part of the main summit will take place in December 2003. If any group wants to take a very clear stand on these issues there is time to organise, make sure that positions are clear and out in the open and also that strategic use is made of the process. There are lots of opportunities for action. Many civil society organisations working on ICT issues are not even aware of WSIS. More organisations need to register to participate in the process. I wish more people were involved in preparing and disseminating clear position papers outlining developing country viewpoints so as to raise awareness and promote action globally. Believe me the 'others' come to these 'institutions' of global governance extremely well prepared both tactically and substantively.
