Connectivity Africa (www.connectivityafrica.ca) is a new initiative funded by the government of Canada and jointly managed by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). Working closely with other African-focused Information and Communication Technology (ICT) initiatives, Connectivity Africa will build on Canada's experience in connectivity projects in Africa and adapt Canadian expertise and models to the needs of African countries, particularly in education, health and economic development. Working within the IDRC Regional Office in Cairo, Egypt, the Senior Program Specialist will provide intellectual leadership and manage a portfolio of projects with a large degree of responsibility. Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field with 5 to 8 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Other requirements include related experience in ICT in both the private and public sectors, experience in managing information technology projects in Africa, work experience in Africa, and fluency in Arabic as well as knowledge of English and French. Elle mettra en application le savoir-faire canadien dans les domaines de l'education, de la sante et du developpement communautaire. Connectivite Afrique est mise en oeuvre par le Centre de Recherches pour le Developpement International (CRDI), en partenariat avec la Commission Economique pour l'Afrique (CEA). Elle collaborera etroitement avec d'autres initiatives de promotion des TIC en Afrique. Travaillant au Bureau regional du CRDI au Caire, en Egypte, le ou la specialiste de programme principal sera le chef de file sur le plan intellectuel dans le domaine de l'execution de programmes. L'emploi exige un diplome de l'enseignement superieur dans une discipline pertinente, ou une combinaison equivalente d'education et d'experience (tel qu'un diplome de maitrise avec plus de huit ans d'experience).
