SciDev.Net <www.scidev.net> seeks an Africa editor to develop its coverage of science and technology in sub-Saharan Africa and build up its network of contributors and partners in the region. Responsibilities will include writing, commissioning and editing material, promoting and marketing SciDev.Net in the region, and overseeing and co-ordinating production of a regular newsletter. Assistance will also be required in providing French translations of selected material
Requirements: Several years' journalistic (or equivalent) experience; interest in policy issues concerning the impact of science and science-based technology on African development; professional experience of working on African issues; English and working knowledge of French; Microsoft Office and Internet skills; ability to work independently and willingness and ability to travel. A scientific background is desirable but not essential Location: Initially in SciDev.Net's London office, but may be required work from a location in Africa.
