Dear Colleagues, Rwanda has made meaningful strides in the adoption of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to aid its development efforts. The country has set a goal of becoming a net exporter of information making it uniquely positioned in the continent. To this end, various efforts have been made by the government including the development and implementation of the National ICT Policy with help from the UN Economic Commission for Africa through its African Information Society Initiative.
As a result, numerous opportunities have come up for individuals and organizations in both private sector and civil society. The second Rwanda ICT Convention is meant to further explore the challenges that the government and other stakeholders have faced in the past period and try to convert these into opportunities. It will also identify new areas of focus, partnerships and development within the framework of the ICT Policy. And the need to know what technologies are available cannot be overemphasized, as this is the basis of all technology adoption. This is, therefore, a call for papers from individuals and organizations that would wish to contribute to this process. We have listed some of the areas we would like covered but you are welcome to suggest other areas that fit within the theme of the conference. To make a proposal, kindly send us the topic of your presentation, the name and designation of the presenter and a summary of the presentation (50 words). Send this to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> with a copy to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> before 15th May, 2005. There will be an ICT Products and Solutions exhibition running alongside the conference.
