It would be great if you could file a bug including this stack trace, the version of gcc you used and even the gtk+/gnome lib versions (or add those comments to 157998 if appropriate). ... you also might try "make uninstall && ./configure --disable-gnome && make install", judging from the stack trace it might have to do with subtle gnome lib interference.
