Bug in showEFloat

This program:

> import Numeric
> main = putStrLn (showEFloat Nothing (0.5::Float) [])

Gives an answer of 5.0e0 for the current build of GHC (4.05),
on my NT box. It comes from test numeric/num008.hs.
(It looks like the test has been mastered incorrectly)
