I had already worked around the problem by making the missing .hi's
individually. However, in a spirit of investigation, I lndir'd another
build tree, did './configure', 'make boot', 'make all' (with of course
the same result). Re-running 'make boot' from ghc/lib ran without any
sign of error, after which 'make all' failed as before.
As I said, I have successfully built ghc-3.00 now. But if you are
interested in pursuing this problem further, I await further
suggestions.
