Be careful - egcs has some known bugs.  gcc 2.7.2.1 is widely regarded
as pretty reliable, and we're still using that here.

I don't know of any others, so good luck!  We'll be pleased to help
out with any questions or problems you have.

By the way, I'm putting together an alpha-dec-osf3 snapshot of 3.02,
which should help.
