Hi there,

I just downloaded ghc-4.04 and wanted to use the flags
-fddump-rules and -fddump-simpl-stats mentioned in the on-line
documentation. Having said that, ghc-4.04 does not seem
to like them:

ghc-4.04 -H80M -recomp -v -fglasgow-exts -cpp -hi-diffs \
          -syslib misc -syslib posix -fvia-C -fno-update-analysis \
          -optC-fallow-overlapping-instances -fno-prune-tydecls \
          -fno-prune-instdecls -fddump-rules -fddump-simpl-stats -O2 -c rules.lhs

ghc-4.04: unrecognised option: -fddump-rules
ghc-4.04: unrecognised option: -fddump-simpl-stats

Usage: For basic information, try the `-help' option.

I also tried to compile with -O instead of the -O2 but
that doesn't work either.

Do I have to add additional flags or is this a bug?

BTW the documentations states that rules only work if the -O
flag is used. Does this mean that rules don't work for -O2?
