Oops, you're so right. rpm -q ghc doesn't lie here! ;-) I thought I had tested with 5.02, but as you say it was indeed 5.00.2. I can't reproduce it with 5.02 either. So I withdraw this ghc bug report -- sorry for the wasted bandwidth and time. Glad that this works in ghc now though. :-) I'll go back and check some similar things with linkchk, to confirm that there are no similar issues left with pipes anymore either.
