I've since downloaded 6.8.0.20070918, installed core first and then
copying extralibs into my core tree and make/installing again and 20070918
seems to be fine.
It's quite possible my original report was due to user-horked system, as I
had several old ghc's floating around my system, including macport 6.6,
macports 6.7, and probably another copy of a recent HEAD download.
