I talked to Simon M before he went on holiday. We think there is no
reason in principle why this should not work. And hence we should try to
fix it for 6.12.
Does anyone feel able to look at it?
If it turns out to be a deeper problem we may have to punt it, but
meanwhile I'll put it as high priority for 6.12.1
