There seem to be several issues here
* The 'ar: bad file name' problem of #3201 seems to have re-appeared.
Maybe it's because he is using MSYS 1.0.11 instead of 1.0.10?
* He didn't find it clear where to unpack the testsuite
* A mysterious null file was created in z:/dev. (It's not clear what
this file is called.)
* He had to turn the Windows Firewall off to run the testsuite. I don't
know why, or what error manifested if he did not do so.
