I don't think we can make any progress on this in the absence of a
reproduction or a fix, so I'm going to close the ticket. If you discover
any new information that might help us, please re-open the ticket.
One thought: perhaps you have some software installed that is hooking the
OS calls and returning strange values here, like a virus scanner or other
security software?
