Quite a lot of work has been done here, esp by Max, and it'd be a pity not
to make push it to completion. But no one "owns" this ticket, so I'm
afraid it may languish unloved.
Does anyone want to take it on and push it over the hill? I'm sure Simon
and Ian (esp) will act in support. Even enumerating the issues that need
to be solved would be helpful.
