Compiling just the `ghc` package separately is unlikely to work; you'll
need to build and install the whole of ghc.
If you want a released version, it's easiest to use a source tarball from
http://www.haskell.org/ghc/download
If you really want to get the code from version control, 7.0.* are in the
darcs repos: http://darcs.haskell.org/ghc-7.0/ghc/
