Comment:

I've installed a local gcc-4.3.6, recompiled ghc-7.0.4 and the bus errors
 (on sparc) are gone.
(I still have to wait if the original failure on x86-solaris ever re-
 occurs.)

Yet, the gdb output "`sol_thread_fetch_registers: td_ta_map_id2thr: no
thread can be found to satisfy query"` now always happens on x86 _and_
sparc solaris and seems to be the bug reported here:
 http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=10879

(I could extend their bug entry, but don't want to register. I'm using the
 latest gdb-7.2 compiled using gcc-4.3.6)

 I'm closing this ticket. Don't use gcc-4.3.3!

Maybe the version of the compiling gcc should be displayed by "ghc
 --info".
