So I have made patches that fix this and pushed to head. Back porting them
to 7.4 isn't 100% straight forward so I've also made patches against 7.4.
I'll attach them to this patch. Please either merge them into the 7.4.2
release or I'm happy to push them to the 7.4 branch if that works better
for you.
