As I understand it:
* Where the same code is compiled by 7.0 - 7.6, we're seeing roughly the
same size results
* Bindists have grown, but generally sources grow too. e.g. 7.0 didn't
include hoopl, GHC continues to do more stuff, etc.
* The HEAD branch is bigger than the release branches as it includes
extra libraries (dph etc)
so I'm not sure that we still have anything unexpected to investigate?
