Austin The ticket (#5719) says "merge if you like but I don't think it's needed". No one complained at the time, so Ian didn't merge it. He's tried merging just the patches you identify, but they don't merge cleanly any more. So I'm afraid this particular fix won't be in 7.4. Sorry.
