Almost all of the frames you see online OR IN THE MALL are made in
China -- even if they say "Japan Design" or "Designed in Italy". This
is almost certainly the case with all of the frames you'll find for
$50 or less. There is one American company left, Shuron (http://
shurons.com), but they start at about $70 and have a distinctly retro
feel -- that I love.

The other option is spending $500 to $XXXX and getting something
meticulously hand crafted by a blind monk in the foothills of the
Alps.

As for dispensing, Zenni, Optical4Less, and many others are done in
China. 39DollarGlasses are on Long Island. EyeBuyDirect is in Maryland
(I think) and Goggles4U processes most (if not all) of their orders in
Pakistan.

Good luck.
