I have that pair with -6.50 lenses, and they're quite thin with the standard 1.57 index lenses. Back in the days of glass lenses, the lens was smaller with wider bridges. You might find suitable vintage frames. Try eBay or antique stores. By the way, if your prescription just jumped, I'm guessing you're young and you do close work, so you might want to try a pair of weaker glasses (or your old glasses) for the close work.
