Generic high index lenses are usually much less. Zenni Optical, which is basically the only shop people talk about here on this forum, has 1.67 high index lenses for $37.00. I can't comment personally on the Zenni 1.67 lenses, but others here seem mostly satisfied with them. I can say that not all 1.67 lenses are the same. In my prescription level for example (+5.00), the quality of the aspheric design and the quality of the optics makes a big difference in whether there's distortion or not. Your experience may vary depending on your prescription and tolerance for perfection.
