Here's another one:
Order placed 2/20/09 (Friday afternoon) Sipping notice received 3/6 Glasses in my mailbox 3/9 (Monday) That's the 11th business day after placing the order. These are progressive lenses in a rimless, clear plastic, hingeless frame -- "invisible" glasses. And they are quite unobtrusive (and nearly weightless). Apparently optically perfect, as my other 5 Zenni pairs have been. $65 shipped with AR coating. http://www.zennioptical.com/cart/product.php?productid=94&cat=0&page=1 For these I experimented with a sort of hybrid progressive formula, reducing the ADD from 2.25 to 1.00. I never use my glasses for close work anyway, so the stronger ADD is a waste and reduces the usefulness of the intermediate section. So these glasses "progress" from distance at the top to computer at the bottom, a much milder gradation. For me, they are (I hope) much more useful for "all-around" use, since none of the lens area is wasted on a close-up section I never use. I still have my single-vision computer glasses next to my home and office workstations for extended sessions. This whole idea of playing around with my prescription and creating specialty glasses for all occasions is really life-altering, and only possible because of these low-cost online opticians like Zenni and sites like GlassyEyes that empower us to take charge of our own optical destinies. It's really wonderful. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://www.glassyeyes.com!
