I would think it would be about the same length of time as it is for
eye exams.
Most doctors recommend a yearly exam for most people, unless they are
having problems that cause rapid changes in their prescription.

I was speaking to a young man who hadn't had his eyes checked since he
was 10, and he's now 16.
When he had it chacked, his PD had changed 5 mm in 6 years. He was
told that most people wouldn't notice a PD change of less than 3 mm.
His problem was that his facial structure had changed so much that his
*vertical* distance had changed and he was no longer looking through
the optical center (OC) of the lenses. It was making him see rainbows
(chromatic abberation) through the lenses.
