ZenniOptical Review After completing my review and initial dealings with Goggles4U, I owe Zenni equal time since I have ordered from them as well. Sorry to be long-winded.
QUICK REVIEW: Zenni Optical is great! If you want the details behind that, read on. I have ordered and received two pairs of glasses from Zenni so far. Both took almost exactly 3 weeks from placing the order to having the glasses on my face. Both pairs are optically proper. As others have noted, Zenni provides confirmation emails at the time of order and when your order has shipped. Inside a padded envelope you will find a hard case. Inside are your glasses wrapped in a cleaning cloth. Nothing fancy, but enough to keep your glasses safe during shipping. The first pair (frame 3774) were rimless frames and a bit smaller on the bridge than I anticipated. Advertised as 18mm, but using my digital calipers I couldn't figure out where they pulled that number from. A quick at-home adjustment and they fit great. Based on my first pair, I decided to order a second pair of 'backup glasses' from Zenni. I chose a basic $9.95 pair (frame 4105). Threw in the mandatory anti-reflection coating (it is as far as I'm concerned) and I had a new pair of glasses on the way for under $20 which included shipping! A lot differnt than my last pair of $300 specs from a national retailer. My girlfriend decided I look good in them, so they get worn more than just a backup pair. Getting through to Zenni Optical support can be challenging which can be a problem if you need to speak to them. I have contacted them via phone only once. It took a few tries over about an hour before I got a live person rather than being asked to leave a message. The representative was helpful if not cheerful. I have worked phone support before. I am quick to forgive a rep's bad day if my questions are answered properly....which they were. I have not tried their email support yet so I can not comment on their responsiveness or quality through that avenue of contact. Alright, I think that about covers it. Zenni has been awesome so far. I'm considering trying Optical4Less next. Having worn eyeglasses for 20 years and always having 1....MAYBE 2 pairs at a time, it is a great thing to have found that I don't have to rely on the retail outlets and their enormously inflated prices any more. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://www.glassyeyes.com!
