I was wondering if someone could give me some advice on buying my
glasses online. For the past 3 years I've been getting my glasses
from a franchised Pearle Vision, of all places, and they've been the
best glasses I've ever had. Unfortunately, they cost me upwards of
$350. I have a small face (looking for metal frames approx 125mm
total width, 46mm eye width, 23mm height, 125mm temple) and a high
prescription -8.5 and -8.75 with astigmatism. I normally buy adult-
looking kids frames.

First, I'm a bit confused about lens materials. I see both
polycarbonate and CR-39 1.67. Is the PearleThin lens I have (Seiko
1.67 Hi-Index I think) the same as the 1.67 polycarbonate? What lens
material should I be looking for? I'm willing to pay a premium for
the thinnest lens, but I don't want glass.

Second, does anyone have any insight on places that have a good
selection of kids frames? I found some I like at Goggle 4 U, but I
saw in a post somewhere that their lens options are thicker than at
Zenni. At Zenni, I can't find frames that fit me.

Does anyone have any general advice, or do I need to stick with the
local, expensive shops?

Thanks is advance.
