You can get glasses made to sit your needs. For example, you could get
bifocals -- or progressives -- with the "computer" (28-inch)
prescription above and the "reading" (12 inch) value below.
Personally I had a pair made that I keep next to my chair where I sit
with my laptop while watching TV. They're progressives, and the top
part is my normal distance prescription (for the TV) but the bottom is
the same as my computer glasses, which is perfect for looking down at
the laptop. One of the great things about buying glasses online is
that they're so cheap you can actually afford to experiment.
