I posted a message earlier about Specs on the net regarding whether
oir not they were still in business. My story is that I ordered
progressives on 03/30/2009 ( ie entered the add portion of my
prescription ) when I received the glasses they were not progressives.
I immediately sent a message to returns @specson thenet.com and
received a note from [email protected] that they returnable and
refundable. So I returned them by USPS. The following is the note from
Spec on the net confirming that they would refund for the return of
the glasses.
"Hi Bill,
Sorry about the confusion there. Returning them is no problem and if
you like the frames we can easily reglaze them as vari-focals
(standard var-focal lenses are £29) If you wish us to do that we can
give you a call on receipt to take the payment.

I went back through you web site and found that I missed the pick
list for the vari-focals and it apparently defaulted to distance. This
VMS ordering system is far from intuitive and doesn't offer a step by
step procedure for ensuring a proper order. I hope I can find how I
did this next time.
I wish to return the glasses and would hope for a full refund. I
like the quality of the glasses and will order vari-focals once I get
my refund or a credit toward the correct vari-focals.
Please let me know if I need to include any return materials
authorization before I mail them to you."
Since I sent this note I have sent an email almost every other day
with no response what so ever from specs on the net.
I would not buy from them again and advise anyone to perform their due
diligence before they do.
