It's a great idea, but one rife with problems. There are a couple of
technical hurdles in the blogging platform I'm stuck using and though
I can fight past those, I've seen so many fake eyeglasses reviews in
the past three years -- provably so -- that I question the value.

Amazon's reviews are notoriously skewed in many cases thanks to
organized campaigns for and against products. Apple's app store had a
similar problem on a massive scale, that they solved by requiring the
reviewer to actually own the application. I have no such luxury in
this space.

The star reviews may re-enter the mix at some point, but it's a "far
from trivial" task to start up and the maintain.
