Just letting everyone know I am, officially, rewriting the map editor (again), but i'm not going to try to change everything like I did last time. Its mostly just an improvement on the existing editor (although I have remoed 95% of the old code). The code isn't going to look much nicer than its previous, I'm hoping that after a 1.0 release, we can integrate the map editor into the Widget system, which, to me, seems entirely do-able, and probably quite simple.
Anyway, the new map editor is going to bear a remarkable resemblance to the in-game gui. The side panel will look similair, having the same sort of icons under the minimap. The four icons I will have, however, will be: Buildings, Units & Flags & Zones, Terrain, and Teams. The Buildings menu will look exactly like it does in the game with only minor modifications (such as a level selector, and without the ressource-requirements descriptions). The bottom of the Buildings, and the Units & Flags and Zones menus will all of team-selection bars. There will be keyboard shortcuts for the new map editor. As well, for whoever made the under-the-minimap icons, I have a favour to ask: I want to make ones for Terrains and Teams, but I'm not very artistic and whatever I would create would look quite ugly. If someone could make these for me, it would be greatly apprecciatted. The new map-editor is mostly eye-candy, and new keyboard shortcuts. Functionally, there will be little improvements. The script editor menu will be changed, however, to encourage people to use a real text editor to edit their scripts (we all do this anyway). I'll be making my first commit the next time I get hard-wired internet access (hotel-wireless never seems to work in linux). Don't expect it to be done, and the cvs will be broken (compilable, though) at that point. I'll just be looking for suggestions. -- Start and finish, Bradley Arsenault _______________________________________________ glob2-devel mailing list [email protected] http://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/listinfo/glob2-devel
