I downloaded Dave's zip and tried it out. It's pretty similar. The main difference is that I couldn't make mine a Universal Binary because not all of my shared libs were Universal Binaries.

Not sure what you mean by "Full application installer". It doesn't have an installer as such. The whole thing is contained in one folder called a Mac OS X "bundle". Therefore you don't really need an installer.
