Just got a press release from the American Geological Institute (NB,
this is definitely **not** the AGU) in my email. You can see it at

Apparently the petroleum industry is having difficulty recruiting
scientists. Interesting. What caught my attention was the idea that
students are being steered toward the "environmental industry".

An immediate question this item raises in my mind is "what is the
environmental industry" and indeed, "how could I apply for a job with
them were I so inclined"?

Meanwhile, the AGI's statement on climate change, issued in 1999 and
not updated since, is a veritable marvel of non-commitment to any
substantive position.
