I think it is possible, but it is not a bet I would take.  I do think that
we might finally achieve some real global cooperation and might see humans
as a group reach their potential for good and clever behaviours.  And though
this may happen too late for mitigation it might provide for some surprising
feats of adaptation.

Please note, I mean this in the sense of some one stranded in a mountain
range who miraculously survives and is ultimately a much better person for
it.  But one is crazy to intentionally put themselves in such a situation.
