Following up to an exchange from a few months ago (quoted below), it may be of note that the American Association of Petroleum Geologists is drafting a new position on climate change that will be less vigorous of an endorsement of change than we might want, will be much more in line with contemmporary scientific evidence.
I gather that there has been some blowback from the Crichton episode, and the AAPG is in the throes of an internal struggle to reframe its position. It has affected their recruitment among geologists and I gather it may be affecting the staffing of the petroleum industry as a whole. I have seen a draft of their new position statement and it looks vastly more reasonable than the current one, which is still visible at http://dpa.aapg.org/gac/papers/climate_change.cfm mt --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Global Change ("globalchange") newsgroup.
