Oh, I love the idea of catastrophe theory, it's really fascinating (although my knowledge is pretty much limited to that popular book by...Saunders?). However, I don't think Tim's article really helped either to elucidate the concepts or to apply them usefully to the Earth system. But I must admit I only glanced at it and may be doing him a bit of an injustice.
