Much to my chagrin, I have heard that there is a new smaller nuclear
plant being "sold" to folks looking for more power in their own
backyard, so to speak.  This is alarming  from the standpoint of
terrorist threat or failure to contain, since (1) there is no way we
can possibly guard every single one of these things adequately and (2)
there is no likely way to create a fail-safe mechanism, and mechanical
and human systems to fail.

And yes, in the short run, coal is very significantly dirtier than
nuclear, but neither is as clean as solar, wind, or potentially tidal
and wave/current power.
