I this propaganda war who do you think is most likely to win? The
scientists or the propagandists?
But don't be fooled into thinking that scientists are searching for
the truth. They, like most other people, are only interested in
prestige. As Milton wrote:
"Fame is the spur that the clear spirit doth raise

Jones et al were out to defeat the sceptics by using the Hockeystick.
It was not a new scientific truth. It was based on an unreliable proxy
- tree rings. But they thought that it would win them the argument.
The sooner the scientists at RealClimate and their followers realise
that they are not expounding God's laws, but only their personal
opinions which can be flawed, as was the case with the MWP, then the
sooner they will be able to convince the public that the dangers are
due to our ignorance of the effects of AGW, not to any false certainty
of a 2C sensitivity.
