Honda cuts Civic Hybrid price by Rs 8L

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

New Delhi: Honda on Wednesday slashed the price of its ecofriendly sedan,
Civic Hybrid, to Rs 13.36 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) till December this year.
The sedan was earlier priced Rs 21.50 lakh.
"The Civic Hybrid which was launched in June received overwhelming
interest from the customers and industry bodies across the country. However,
its high price due to the current duty structures made it inaccessible for
lot of customers. Therfore, the company has decided to partly bear the cost
on behalf of the customers for a limited period and volume so that it
becomes more affordable and more customers experience and own the new
technology," said Jnaneswar Sen, VP (marketing) Honda Siel Cars.
The company is believed to have sold around 30 units of the Civic hybrid
till last month.
Currently, cumulative duties on models like Civic hybrid that are
imported as fully-built units is around 105%, that doubles their cost.
