Kohinoor Foods, known for its basmati rice brand Kohinoor, is planning to
rebrand its ready-to-eat Indian delicacies, under Kohinoor-India on Platter
brand and will launch 20 curries in the next two months.
It is looking at positioning the brand as a ‘healthy alternative’ to other
ready-to-eat foods. Besides, the company will invest Rs 25 crore this year for
upgrading facilities and branding of new food categories among others.
“We are planning to reposition and rebrand our ready-to-eat products, which
were originally launched as Kohinoor Heat & Eat in 2004. The brand will undergo
an overhaul and will be repositioned as a healthier food choice. We will be
using olive oil for products to be sold overseas and will make sure that our
products for domestic market are free of trans fats,” said Gurnam Arora, joint
managing director, Kohinoor Foods.
The company expects its revamped ready-to-eat brand to contribute Rs 100 crore
to its overall revenues in this financial year
