*AIF Capital* has invested $39.5 Mn in *Famy Care Ltd* for an undisclosed stake. AIF made the investment through *AIF Capital Asia III*.
Baring PE Partners was also talking to Famy Care to invest about $40 Mn for a 15% stake. Mumbai based Famy Care Ltd manufactures intra uterine contraceptive devices (IUD) and oral contraceptive pills (OCPs). Transaction Note Famy Care has an R&D facility in Mumbai, two manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and one each in Daman and Maharashtra. Famy Care intends to use the capital for launching its products in the US and Europe. The company has also entered into a strategic alliance with Mylan to market its products in US and Europe. AIF Capital has raised more than $1.7 Mn snce its inception and has invested across nine countries including India and China. It invests in SCM, BFSI, energy and telecom companies. Earlier in 2008, it invested $31 Mn in Bioplus Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd through AIF Capital Asia III.
