*Gemini Communication *has acquired *Rosy Blue Wireless *(RBW) in Africa. The company did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
Rosy Blue is an African telecom and internet services provider, with presence in Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique. The company operates in these countries through joint ventures, where it holds 60% stake and rest are held by local partners. The JVs of RBW are called Morse Communications and have been alloted WiMax spectrum license in these countries with channel space of 30 MHz slot. Transaction Note Gemini Communication is a 15 year old network integration and telecom company. Its subsidiaries include *Pointred telecom*, *Sanat technologies*, *Gemini Traze RFID* and *Veeras infotek*. Gemini is listed in BSE & NSE stock exchanges. The entire WiMAX network rollouts in Africa will happen using Pointred Telecom's WiMAX products. *PointRed Telecom*, have bagged $100 mn contract from *Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited* (BSNL) for the deployment of mobile WiMAX application in India. Total of 7000 Mobile WiMax base station are to be deployed across BSNL networks in India. As per the tender conditions upon technical qualification by BSNL, four lowest bidders were to be selected for the rollout of the world’s largest mobile WiMax network. Gemini-PointRed combo emerged as the lowest bidder. It gets 40% of the contract.
