Starting October 2, Puneites will be able to fly to two more cities —
Lucknow and Patna, which were so far not connected to the city.

GoAir, a low-cost carrier <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Low-cost_carrier>,
on Tuesday announced flights to Lucknow and Patna, which will fly via Delhi,
as well as direct flights to Delhi. “Though the city is already connected to
Delhi by air, it is for the first time it’s getting connected to Lucknow and
Patna. These new flights will provide customers with more convenient
timings. We decided to start these flights keeping in mind the presence of
students and IT professionals from Lucknow and bureaucrats and IAS officers
from Patna. For starting the Delhi flights, we had corporate sector in mind.
However, all these flights are subject to the Directorate General of Civil
Aviation<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directorate_General_of_Civil_Aviation>(DCGA)
approval,” said Praveen Nair, General Manager (Sales), GoAir.

GoAir has also announced air connectivity from Pune to Leh and vice
versa<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vice_Versa>.
However, one will have to make a halt at the Delhi airport for about four
hours before reaching the either destination. “Leh is one of the most
difficult terrains and airports in terms of flight operations. The changing
weather conditions might restrict the operations. Therefore, the schedule of
the flights has been kept mostly during the day. If somebody wants to head
to Leh from Pune, he will have to disembark at Delhi at about 1 am and then
catch the next flight at 5.30 am,” Nair said. Each airline has a capacity of
180 seats, out of which eight are reserved under Business Class. “Currently,
GoAir operates 78 direct flights a day in 19 cities. However, by 2014, we
will be able to cover about 40 cities. At present, we have a fleet of nine
aircrafts and soon, we will add a tenth aircraft. By 2013, we will have a
fleet of 20 flights,” Nair said.
