bonjour à tous

Ce petit mail pour vous informer que j'ai terminé mon stage dans la
société OpenSides, et que ceci étant, j'arrête (du mois jusqu'à jeudi
prochain, le temps de faire mon mémoire) ma collaboration à GLPI.

Avant d'expliquer ou j'en suis arrivé pour le portage pour PGSQL, je
tiens vite fait à remercier les gens qui m'ont aidé, et ceux qui m'ont
pas aidé aussi, ce fut un plaisir de rencontrer d'autres dev fan de
logiciel libre (yen a trop peu à mon école).

En ce qui concerne le portage vrs PostGreSQL, je suis arrivé ici :
Sur les conseils avisé de DJ Anubis, j'ai utilisé la librairie
d'interfacage AdoDB (dispo sur sourceforge) en version 4.6.2 (environ,
si je dis pas nawak).
L'installation se fait tout connement, dézipper le fichier zip la ou
ca vous arrange, dans $phproot/glpi/adodb dans mon cas.

Après ceci, il suffit de rajouter
include($phproot . "/glpi/adodb/adodb.inc.php"); dans le fichier
glpi/includes.php, ceci pour avoir accès aux fonctions proposées par
AdoDB ou que vous soyiez dans le code de GLPI.

les autres fichiers modifiés sont :
- install.php, modifié de tel sorte à demander quel dbms utiliser, et
continuer le script d'installation en fonction (à ce propos, j'ai
rajouté une variable $driver dans la classe DB du fichier
config_db.php).
- la classe DBmysql (fichier glpi/common/classe.php) renommée en
DBhandler, vu qu'elle n'est plus vraiment pleine de MySQL. elle
contient juste le constructeur, et un getInstance qui renvoie le
handler DB.
- le fichier AdoDB.php.inc (c'est gore, mais c'est plus simple) pour
les requetes typiques MySQL (genre $db->result($result,$i,$field), ou
numrow($result), qui font simplement appel à des fonctions définies
dans le même fichier.
- le fichier config.php, qui contient le premier script sql à toujours
être appelé (select * from config), et qui contient l'appel au
constructeur DB.

Le système employé pour cette histoire de getInstance est celui-ci :
on crée le handler DB via
GLOBAL $mydb = new DB();
new DB fait lui même appel à &ADONewConnection('$driver'); si le
handler db n'existe pas encore. il se connecte également à la DB et
sélectionne la DB GLPI.
dans le code en lui meme, il suffit alors de remplacer tous les appels
à $db = new DB() (suivi des query kivonbien) par
$db = $db = $GLOBALS["mydb"]->getInstance();
suite à quoi $db permet d'atteindre les fonctions définies par AdoDB.

La ou j'en suis arrivé :
- la connexion à la db et l'execution des querys marche parfaitement.
Ca coince à deux endroits :
- il arrive que mysql ou AdoDB (pas trop eu le temps d'investiguer la
dessus) renvoie un resultset en majuscule, alors que glpi s'attend à
un resultset avec clés associatives comme écrites dans la db (genre
FK_glpi_entreprise, ID, ou type). Ceci cause un problème à php qui s'y
retrouve plus, etaffiche un superbe message d'erreur.
L'autre soucis provient de l'implémentation actuelle de GLPI, et du
passage par copie de PHP.
quand on parcours un résultset avec la méthode GLPI-ienne (qui
fonctionne, personne n'en doutera), il "faut" faire comme ceci :
while ($data = $db->fetch_assoc|num|array($result)) {
    // traitement sur $data
}
avec AdoDB, ca se complique un chouia, et le problème est les quelques
centaines (voir plus) de querys à modifier à la main (nan, pas de sed
ici, bien trop compliqué)
while (!$result->EOF) {
    $data = $result->fields;
    // traitement de $data
    $result->MoveNext();
}

J'ai bien sur commencé avec cette méthode la, elle fonctionne, mais le
temps qu'il faut passer à débugger le truc quand le problème de
majuscule arrive en meme temps...

Donc voila, mes conclusions sur la tentative de portage vers PostGreSQL :
C'est possible, si si, promis juré.
le problème est que c'est pas un gentil stagiaire à qui il restait 3
semaine pour porter l'application qui va y arriver.
d'abord parce que le temps de tout patcher est assez long
surtout parce que le code cvs bouge assez (beaucoup) vite
enfin parce qu'il faut que les développeurs principaux soient vraiment
désireux qu'on porte leur application vers un truc plus portable, et
acceptent d'aider un peu (dans le sens commencer à penser à utiliser
un truc portable pour la version 0.6 plutot que s'amuser à modifier la
classe DBmysql pour accepter ce qui viendra plus tard - procédures
stockées, trigger, etc, alors qu'un truc tout fait et éprouvé existe).

Enfin bon, je sais que je pourrai pas changer le monde, mais ca
m'empêche pas de rêver.

De toute facon bonne chance pour la suite, d'après ce que je lis un
peu partout, GLPI est largement en avance sur les autre outils de
gestion de parc info libres, profitez-en pour réfléchir sur le futur
lointain, genre plugins perso, version gprs, traduction plus simple
(gettext), utilisation de plusieurs db possibles, avant de retourner
mettre les doigts dans la versio CVS :))
